Alamosa has long been a place people rely on – a center of connection, culture, and opportunity. Yet not everyone experiences that equally. Gaps in access to services, aging infrastructure, limited resources, and rising housing costs mean there is still work to do to create a better Alamosa for all.
At the same time, there has been meaningful progress in areas like river access and trail development, downtown revitalization, and creating affordable housing. To meet this moment, Community Builders is partnering with the City of Alamosa on the We Are Alamosa Project, an 18-month process to create the City’s comprehensive plan.
The We Are Alamosa Project officially launched in June 2026, kicking off a community-wide conversation about the future of Alamosa. During its first rounds of engagement opportunities, the project connected with more than 600 community members through small-group conversations, a community kick-off dinner, and pop-ups at popular local events.
The project, which will continue engaging community members throughout 2026 and into 2027, is designed to be collaborative, inclusive, and engaging – built around the voices, experiences, and priorities of the people who call Alamosa home. The We Are Alamosa Project is ongoing! The project will culminate in late 2027 with a new comprehensive plan that will guide the City’s policies, programs, and investments over the next decade. Grounded in community input, the plan will help ensure that future decisions reflect the values and priorities of the people who live and work in Alamosa.
