Marissa is committed to supporting community leaders in building resilient, equitable places. A community organizer at heart, Marissa is passionate about aligning community action with municipal goals and plans to create the best possible outcomes for all. At Community Builders, Marissa focuses on economic transition, housing, and equity. Prior to her work with CB, Marissa spent a decade working with the international Transition Towns movement.

Marissa lives on the Western Slope in Paonia, Colorado, where she recently co-founded a community land trust and led a community-driven Comprehensive Plan process. Outside work Marissa can be found spending quality time with her two young children, tending her family’s small regenerative farm, and enjoying nature and hot springs. She holds a master’s degree in International Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
